To be or not to be checked?

I have a dilemma. When I reach the end of my pregnancies, I get really anxious to know if I am dilating or not. I had my 36 week appointment today and my doctor decided to check me while he did the strep B test. Well, I'm dilated to 1 cm, and I am 50% effaced. Yeah! I thought. But in all actuality, that doesn't mean anything. I could go to the rest of my appointments and stay exactly the same. With Wesley, I didn't get checked until my 37th week and I was at 1.5 and 70% effaced. The next week, I was almost a 2 and 80%. I was extremely bummed! I thought for sure I would have progressed more. Luckily with Wes, I went into labor after that appointment and he was born two weeks early. Wesley definitely set the bar high. I would love to have this baby early, but who knows if I will. So the question is...to be or not to be checked? Sometimes dilating early means nothing at all. So...do I get checked and become anxious because there was a change? Or do I just let nature take it's course and be surprised? Who knows!

When is your actual due date? If you are still a month out... you might want to get checked to make sure things are not happening too fast...

If you are fine on time...hmmm i am not much help... i ran to the dr everytime i felt a contraction in the end...i am a little impatient though... I would probably get checked because I get so anxious!!! :O)

It just blows me away that you're this close. It has gone by so fast. I think getting checked just makes you more anxious and gives you false hope sometimes. but if you can't stop thinking about it I say go for it. These last weeks are crazy hard! love ya

I had to know what was going on so I always got checked, but I tried to just expect that there would be no progression and then if there was I was pleasantly surprised. These last few weeks can be tough, huh! Let me know if I can help you with anything or if you want to send Wes over for a little while! We'd love to have him!

Well, I know while we were waiting for our little guy to come, I wanted to know everything our birth mom found out at her appointments, but I had to wait until she told me. When she took her time to tell me it stressed me out so bad, but when she did tell me it made me more anxious! Hmmm...that is a tought one! I don't know! I can't believe it is so close!!!

Yeah for you that you are having another little one! I have to say that I LOVE the name Maddox. I wanted to name Colin that but Corey wasn't stoked about it... How fun! I was glad to hear from you and am excited to see your blog. How is Modbe going for you? I have to admit that I am very out of the loop. Keep in touch!
