Wesleyisms

Wesley is one funny kid! He has the silliest sense of humor and keeps Rob and I laughing hysterically every day! Recently, Wesley has said some pretty funny things that I wanted to write down before I forget them. Here are some of them:

One day while changing his bum...

Me: "Wesley, this is really gross! You really need to start using the potty."
Wesley: "It's not gross Mom, it's just pizza on my bum!"
And every day since then he tells me he has more pizza on his bum. I will never look at pizza the same way!

A couple of days later I was wiping his nose and a big booger came out...

Wesley: "Eeeeewwww! Mac and Cheese!"
Me: "What?"
Wesley: "No, it's not Mac and Cheese, it's just boogers!"

One day we were running late to the gym. The boys were already in the car and I ran inside to grab something. I came back out and Wesley was fake laughing a really goofy laugh...

Me: "Wes, you're so crazy!"
Wes: "I'm not crazy Mom...I'm funny!"

And probably the funniest conversation yet...probably because it's true.

On Sunday I had to be to church early to meet with the Bishop. Rob decided we would all just try and make it there early so we wouldn't have two cars at church. We were running late as usual and I was really stressed out. On our way to church, Wesley really wanted his backpack open but couldn't unzip it himself. He started whining and said:

Wesley: "Open my backpack! I can't do it!"
Me: "Wesley, please stop freaking out! We will open your backpack when we get to church. You really need to stop freaking out over little things. Be patient and we will open it at church."

Wes went really quiet and as we pulled up to church he said: "You're freaking out Mom!"

Rob and BOTH boys started laughing. It was really hard not to crack a smile because Wesley was right. I was and usually am always freaking out! Wesley is such a smarty pants and teaches me new things every single day! I sometimes forget he is only 2 1/2 because he says some pretty ingenious things. Although he keeps me on my toes all the time...I certainly do love him! My life would be pretty dull without him!

Recipe Exchange

My cousin Danielle tagged me on her blog. I'm supposed to post one of my favorite recipes. Since she posted my favorite chicken tacos recipe, I decided to pick my favorite summer recipe since BBQ season is approaching.

Lemon Turkey (or chicken) Marinade

3/4 cup Light Olive Oil
1/2 cup Lemon juice
1 Tbsp Oregano
1 Tbsp Salt
2 tsp Garlic powder
2 tsp Pepper

Whisk all ingredients together and add meat. Tastes best when marinaded overnight. After marinading, I like to cut the meat into chunky cubes and make yummy kabobs. I like to add purple onions and assorted peppers. BBQ them up and serve with brown rice!

Now I tag: Dede, Brooke, Alexis, Maren, and Melissa!

Ketchup anyone???

We were at McDonald's a week or so ago and Beckett was freaking out. He kept whining and pointing at something on the table. I tried giving him a fry and he knocked it out of my hand. I then tried a chicken nugget and then a drink. Nothing was working and the fit continued. It wasn't until I grabbed the ketchup that he started kicking his little legs in excitement. He began drinking the ketchup and couldn't get enough of it! Disgusting...I know!
He must take after his mom. I used to love putting ketchup on EVERYTHING!!!

Beckett's Par-tay!

We had a little family party for Beckett on his birthday. We decided to have it at my parents since we would already be there for dinner. It was pretty low key. Everyone watched as Wesley and I opened Beckett's presents. Wesley reminded us of a scene out of A Christmas Story. Every time we opened a new present, Wesley screamed "Oh, That's mine!" It made us laugh!
When it came time for cake, Beckett didn't hesitate for one second! He dove right in! Most one year olds that I have watched eat cake usually pick at it with their fingers. Beckett went in face first! Which is totally a Beckett thing to do! He loves food...especially anything chocolate! Here are some fun pictures from his party:

His adorable cake! Checking out his new truckDigging right in! All done!!!Taking turns pushing each other on "Beckett's" new truck
Beckett had his 1 yr check up on Monday. Here are his stats:
Weight: 20lbs 2 oz - 13% (Hooray! Front facing carseat!)
Height: 29 1/4 in - 33%
Head: 19 1/4 in - 97% (No big shock! Big heads run in our little family!)

Happy 1st Birthday Beckett!

I can't believe my Beckett Man is 1 yr old today! This past year has flown by. It has been so fun to watch Beckett turn into the little man he is today. He is growing and learning more and more each and every day! We honestly can't imagine our lives without him. It makes me a little sad that he is already at his first birthday, but also excited to see him hit all the fun milestones along the way.
Here are some fun facts about Beckett:
* Beckett is a mover! He loves to crawl everywhere, pulls himself up on everything, and he has even started to climb. We may be in trouble!

* Beckett is a man of few words, but he's getting there. When Wesley turned one, he probably said 20-25 words. Wesley was an early talker. Beckett says: Mama, Dada, ball, more, bye-bye, boo (sounds more like bah), baba, grandpa, sometimes grandma, and Spongebob (no joke!). He used to say uh-oh and dog, but we haven't heard them in awhile.

* Beckett loves to wave hi and bye, especially to other kids or babies. He loves to play patty cake and clap his hands. Anytime we are at church and someone is getting sustained, Beckett joins in the fun. He also folds his hands when we pray.
* Beckett completely admires his brother and tries to copy everything Wesley does. It's really cute, but gets on Wesley's nerves. Beckett also likes to torment Wes. He will steal some of Wesley's favorite things because he knows it will get a reaction out of Wes.
*Beckett loves food. Almost everything! There are only a few things he doesn't like: bananas (althought they are growing on him), he used to love the gerber fruit puffs but now can't stand them, he also doesn't like banana bread...go figure! I can't really think of any more dislikes, I know there are more though. Some faves: Spaghetti, Mac and Cheese, fruit, cheese, and especially Chickfila fries! He even eats lettuce and broccoli!
* He is starting to get a major temper! If he doesn't get what he wants...he definitely lets us know it!

Here are some pictures from Beckett's first year of life!

Beckett, we just want you to know how much we love you! You have brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. You are a sweet little boy and we honestly can't imagine our lives without you! Continue to be your happy self! We love you!

Fun at the mall

Yesterday I decided to take the boys to the mall. It had been awhile since we had ventured out. Beckett has been super grumpy (I think he has a few teeth coming in), and I have been super busy planning a party and preparing a lesson for Sunday (which I'm super stressed about!). So...we headed to the mall so I could get some shopping done and so the boys could burn off some energy. It was such a great afternoon! The boys were really well behaved! We first ate a yummy lunch and then headed over to the cute dinosaur playland. The boys played and played! Beckett was loving life! He is so fun to watch. He loves playing with the big kids. I luckily had my camera and took some fun pictures.
I normally don't like taking the boys shopping with me because they are always whining the whole time. Yesterday was the exception!

OUCH!

I think one of the most painful things in life is stubbing your toe. I may be a wimp but when I stub my toe I can't help screaming out in pain and sometimes tears even stream from my eyes. On Monday, I was in the kitchen doing the dishes. I could hear Beckett crawling closer to the kitchen. I looked over and saw him crawling towards our laundry room. We usually keep the door closed to that room because that is where we keep our dog's food dishes. Well, the door was open and so I went running as fast as I could to grab Beckett before he put a handful of yummy dog food in his mouth. As I approached him, I hit my toes on the door frame. I immediately screamed out in pain! And it hurt SO badly that I continued screaming for the next few minutes. I completely terrified Beckett, and Wesley came running out of my room asking if I was ok. By then the tears were flowing and I was sitting on the floor holding my throbbing pinky toe. Throughout the rest of the afternoon I hobbled around with a throbbing toe. We had to go run some errands and wearing shoes caused the most excruciating pain. When I got home from running errands, I took off my shoes and noticed that my toe had turned a little purple. This may be gross, but I took a picture of it and sent it to Rob. I wanted a little sympathy.

Later on that day, I had to run over to my sister's house. I showed her my toe and she told me she thought it was broken. I was skeptical. But it didn't really matter because they don't do anything for a broken toe except tape it. I then was worried if my toe would affect my running. I had a three mile run planned that night, and I was hoping I could bare through the pain. I headed to Layton to run with my friend Jess and I'm happy to report that I did make it through our run that night. I feel bad because I probably slowed Jess down. After our run I looked at my toe again and it had doubled in size and was a bright purple/pinkish color. It looked disgusting! It is starting to feel better, but it is still enormous! I have another run planned for tonight and hopefully it won't bother me. I've decided to include some disgusting pictures. I apologize for my ugly feet!

This was taken a couple of hours after I stubbed it. This was Monday night before I went to bed. These last two were taken on Tuesday morning. Look how fat it is!!!
