Our cute friend Andee recently started a hobby in photography. She came over and took some pictures of Beckett when he was about a week old. They turned out SO cute! Here are some of my favorites!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was busy, busy, busy. Friday I met my friend Tara and her little girl Katelyn at the Baby Expo. It was 5 times bigger than last year with a lot of great booths. Rob's cousin Tracey actually put the whole expo together. Last year was the first year, and it definitely improved. Some of the booths included vendors such as: Babiesrus, multiple photographers, The Mommy Cover, Sassy Babies, Sweet Cheeks Baby Design, Expected Maternity, Snuggle Buddies, and many, many, many, more! I bought Beckett the softest blanket ever from Snuggle Buddies. It is so adorable! We had a great time, and Wesley was pretty well behaved. Although I did have to bribe him with suckers and stickers the entire time. Thanks for coming with us Tara! Friday night, Rob and I decided we needed a night out. We felt like we had hardly seen each other all week. My mom was kind enough to watch Wes, while we took Beckett with us to the movies. We went and saw "21" with my sister Jenny and her husband. It was such a good movie! I highly recommend it!

Saturday was filled with ripping out our dead tree in the front yard, along with a couple other bushes. Our front yard will be getting a little face lift this year. It desperately needs it. We also spent the day organizing and cleaning our house. Later that night our good friends Spencer and Emily came over for dinner and a game of Ticket to Ride. It was a lot of fun! A great way to end a busy day. On Sunday, we had our postponed Easter Egg hunt at my parents. They over did it like always! We were sent home with candy galore, which will probably last us till the end of the year! No joke! Wesley had so much fun hunting for his eggs and basket, which was filled with candy, sunglasses, a Nemo swimsuit, and a huge bouncy ball. Beckett's basket was filled with clothes, bibs, and some toys.

Easter

Easter was a little different this year. Normally, we go to my parent's for an Easter egg hunt where all the grandkids hunt for eggs and their Easter baskets. This year, the hunt was postponed until next Sunday because my niece and nephew ended up with the flu. On Sunday, Rob and Wesley went to church, while Beckett and I stayed home and got some rest. That evening we headed over to my Grandparents for a delicious dinner with the Rigby's. It was so fun to visit with our family and see all the kids in their cute Easter outfits!

Happy Birthday Mom!

I just wanted to wish my Mom a Happy Birthday! She is one amazing lady! Not only is she the greatest cook in the world, but she is such a great Grandma to my boys, and a great example to me. I hope you have a great day Mom! We love you!

Beckett Joshua Smith

We welcomed our sweet baby boy Beckett into this world on March 15th at 3:35 am. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz. and was 21 inches long. No words can describe the feelings or emotions you feel when they place your baby into your arms for the very first time. What a miracle! I went into labor on Friday night while we were out to dinner with my family for my nephew Jacob's birthday. We decided to leave dinner early to head to the hospital. We went to the hospital empty handed. No suitcase, cameras, or anything for the baby. I was so afraid they were going to send me home because I had been having hard contractions for days with no progress. To my surprise, I was actually in labor! 5 hours after being admitted...I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! Last week was definitely an emotional week! We are so grateful that Beckett is here and healthy!

The Power of Faith

The past couple of days have probably been the worse days of my life! It started on Monday night as Rob was in the backyard with Wesley and the two dogs (She-ra and my brother's dog). Rob was outside cooking our dinner on the BBQ. I had just gotten home and Rob mentioned to me that we really needed to get covers for our window wells. A few minutes later, I was inside preparing the rest of dinner when I heard Wes screaming. I ran outside to see Rob standing in the window well pulling Wes out. I was horrified at what I saw. Wesley's head was bleeding and this misshaped bulge over his eye. Rob and I started panicking wondering what to do. We decided to rush him to the ER. The 5 minute drive to Jordan Valley hospital was probably the longest drive of my LIFE! The whole time I was praying that Wesley's head was ok and that he wouldn't suffer any permanent damage. Once we got to the ER, they took a CT scan and some xrays. Wesley was hysterical! They had to strap him to a board and put him in a straight jacket to keep him from moving. They also taped his head down, which he was not happy about. But he was very alert and knew who we were and kept talking to us.

After the CT scan and xrays, Rob and my Dad gave Wesley a Priesthood blessing. The nurse came in awhile later and told us that Wesley had fractured his skull. According to her, it started at his forehead, went through the eye socket, and down into the base of the skull. She told us there was no bleeding in the brain, but they were thinking about transferring him to Primary Children's so a neurosurgeon could look at him. They transferred him by ambulance. Rob rode with him, while I ran home to grab a few things. By the time they got there, Wesley's eye had completely swollen shut. They had a trauma team ready for him when they got there and took more xrays and pried his eye open to examine it. On my way up to the hospital, I started having contractions and was so worried that I was going into labor. Wouldn't that have been perfect timing? An hour after getting to the hospital, my contractions stopped and they admitted Wesley. That night was a very sleepless night. Nurses would come in every 1-2 hours to wake him up to make sure he was responsive and to take his vitals. Wesley was such a trooper! He hardly cried or complained. He was actually being his normal cute and funny self.

The next morning, Wesley was seen by an ENT and an Ophthalmologist to see if there was any damage to those organs. The exam by the Ophthalmologist was torturous! I had to leave because I couldn't stand to hear Wes cry. Both examines went really well. There wasn't any damage that they could see. We were then told that the radiologists were still examining the CT scans to see how bad the fracture actually was. We waited all day, hearing nothing. Wesley still continued to be a trooper. He started to get restless as the day went on, but continued to be entertaining! Later that evening, the ENTs came back, along with the Trauma doctor. They informed us that there actually wasn't a fracture. The lines that JV hospital had believed to be a fracture, were actually his skull still fusing together. The only injury Wesley had was the hematoma on his face and head. We couldn't believe it! We were terrified that Wes was going to deal with long term effects from this accident, but it turned out to be nothing serious at all! He was so lucky that there wasn't any damage to any other body part. They had us stay another night in the hospital just as a precautionary. Wesley came home this morning and is doing great!

What a traumatic couple of days! We feel so blessed that Wesley is ok and finally home! I truly have faith in the power of the priesthood. I know that because Wesley was given a blessing the night of the accident, he is ok and there is no permanent damage. I know that our prayers were answered! We feel so blessed to have wonderful family, friends, and neighbors that have taken care of us during this tragedy! Thank you all for your love and support!

I know these pictures are kind of scary looking, but some people have asked to see them. I wish we would have taken a picture of his head shortly after his fall, but I could barely look at it myself. This picture was taken shorthly after I arrived at Primary Children's. What a good sport!
Here is Wes kicking back, eating a graham cracker and watching Finding Nemo.
Here he is on the way home from the hospital, all tuckered out! His eye is looking so much better! It is a lot more bruised, but the swelling has almost gone down completely.

Still no baby!

So, I am really getting anxious! I think the "waiting game" is the second worst part of having a baby. The first being morning sickness. And Wesley coming two weeks early has really thrown me for a loop! I am now past my two week mark and I just want this baby out of me!!! I am having really hard, painful braxton hicks contractions every day. And when more than a couple come right after another I think "this is it! I know it!" But then they stop. I didn't have any contractions with Wesley until the day I went into labor. Why do the two pregnancies have to be so different? It is driving me crazy! At my doctor's appointment on Monday, I had only progressed to 2 cm and 70 % effaced. I think I have become a fan of not being checked. It just makes me depressed. My doctor asked if I wanted to be started if the baby didn't come by my 39 week appointment. I first told him no, but now I am really contemplating it. If this baby continues to feel like he is going to fall out at any moment, I just might give in and take the pitocin (sp?). My sister Jenny has been forcing me to take belly shots. We took one two weeks ago, and I couldn't believe how big I was! Then we took one the other night, and I don't think I grew any, but Jenny disagrees. I will let you decide. 36 weeks

38 weeks

I think I look a little bigger in this one because she is zoomed in a little bit. It was just a coincidence that I was wearing the same thing. I only have about 3-4 shirts that still fit!

Anyone want a FREE dog???

I am so close to giving our Jack Russell away! She-ra has turned into the most disobedient dog these past few months! She chews and destroys anything plastic she can get her little paws on. Her favorites include Wesley's sippy cups and bottle nipples. Her secret hiding places are underneath the baby's crib and Wesley's bed. A couple of weeks ago we deep cleaned the baby's room and underneath the crib were tons and tons of She-ra treasures. It's a little ridiculous! Also, if we accidently leave a dirty diaper lying around, she finds it and shreds it. I am going balistic! And today to top it all off...she decided to poo downstairs in the tv room. That's not the worst part though, I hadn't noticed it and all of a sudden Wes was walking funny and whining. Yep, you guessed it! He stepped in it and got poo all over the cream colored carpet! I about died! I almost killed She-ra right there and then. She either has to go back to a training class, or she has to go. I am so afraid for how she is going to act when the new baby comes. So...if anyone is looking for a dog, you can have OURS!!!
