Bear Lake

We spent the 24th of July weekend at our cabin in Bear Lake. We had such a great time. Our trip started out a little rough. Wesley decided to wake up every hour the first two nights and was so grumpy during the day. We were exhausted. We almost cut our trip short, but we decided to stick it out and ended up having a fun time. We spent three days soaking up the sun, playing in the sand, swimming, and boating. It was Wesley's first time on a boat and he loved it! He even rode the tube with Rob. We had a great weekend, but it is nice to be back home.

What a week!

My patience has definitely been tested in this last week. I am not loving the "terrible two" stage. I thought Wes was already a troublemaker...but then he turned 2. His birthday was only a couple of weeks ago, and he has already done multiple things that make me want to rip my hair out. It started on Monday night when we started getting the boys ready for bed. Rob started getting the bath ready for Wesley as I was getting pjs for Beckett. I came back into our room and could see Wes sitting in the tub with his shirt on. I called out to Rob (who I thought was in the bathroom with Wesley), and asked him why he left Wes' shirt on. I soon found out that Rob wasn't in the room and Wesley was sitting in the tub completely dressed. He just couldn't wait for us to get him undressed to get in the bath. Rob and I actually found this pretty funny, and ran to grab the camera. I was just a little irritated that his clothes and diapers were soaking wet. What a funny kid!

Then on Tuesday, we had just gotten home from the gym and I sat down to nurse Beckett. Wes sounded like he was playing in living room. No biggie, I thought. Then a few minutes later he comes running down the hall and stops in the doorway. He was holding out his hands which I could clearly see had something gooey all over them. I asked him what he had on his hands and he smiled and took off down the hall. I decided I better get up and see what he got into. I walk into the living room as steam started to come out my ears. He somehow got a hold of our laundry detergent and had dumped it out all over the carpet. He had then dipped his hands in it and decided to finger paint my couches with it. I was SO livid! I didn't know what to do at that moment and realized I had a screaming hungry baby in the other room. So I pulled Wes into the room with me and shut the door so I could finish feeding Beckett without Wes getting into more trouble or making more of a mess. After feeding Beckett, I tried cleaning up the mess. With no luck I called my sister Jenny to see if she had any suggestions. Of course she did, and I was able to talk Rob into coming home for lunch and helping me clean up the mess. Our handy neighbor Ross came to the rescue and let us borrow his shop vac. The only positive thing that came out of it was that our house smelled flower fresh for the next couple of days. Sorry no pictures of the beautiful mess. I was too angry. I still haven't figured out how he got a hold of the detergent. We either keep it on top of the dryer or in the cupboard above the washer. And he hadn't pushed anything over to climb up. But I have come to realize that you can never put anything past a 2 yr old.

You'd think his shenanigans had stopped there, but oh no. On Friday I was in the shower and Wes decided he wanted to play in the water. Not just any water, but the toilet water. I got out of the shower and the floor was soaking wet and the plunger was sitting in the toilet. I wanted to scream! He usually is so good and watches one of his shows and plays with his toys while I have 5 mins to myself to shower. I was just glad Beckett was napping in his crib and didn't get a toilet bath from his older brother. Luckily Rob got off work at 11 am on Friday so I didn't go completely crazy. We actually ended the hellish week on a fun note. Rob and I have seriously been contemplating on a way to save some money on gas since prices have sky rocketed. We decided to find an alternative way for him to travel to work. Check out his sweet new ride!

We shopped around all week and we decided to buy this sweet scooter. And I just want to make one thing clear: I DID NOT PICK OUT THE COLOR! That would be Rob's choice. There was a cute shiny red one just like this one, but Rob wanted the pink one with flowers. Let's just say he is very secure with his masculinity. No one believes me, but hosestly Rob wants to drive this bad boy to work every day. I can't wait to hear what his co-workers say about him. Rob was calling it his "hog" and I said "Honey, it's not a hog, it's more like Miss Piggy!" I followed him home from the dealership and could not stop laughing the whole way home. I would have to say the highlight was when he waved at a couple of motorcylists on the way home and they didn't wave back. Everyone that passed him had a smirk on their face. It was HILARIOUS! But on a serious note, our sweet little scooter will save us a ton on gas! It costs $5 to fill up and gets 105 mpg! Rob's work is only 7 miles away, so it's not like he will be driving it across the valley. We are pretty excited about our purchase.

If anyone wants to come over and take it for a spin...feel free! She's a sweet little ride!

gelato, good music, baseball, and great company!

This weekend was a lot a fun. I love summer time. It seems like we do something fun all weekend long. I guess it is easier for us to put projects off to enjoy the nice weather. On Friday night we decided to eat at a new Italian Cafe in Jordan Landing. We had discovered their delicious gelato a couple of weeks ago and decided to try out their food. It was pretty good, but their gelato is still my favorite thing there. They always have 2 flavors of sorbetto that are sugar free fat free and they are fantastic! They definitely fit into our healthy eating lifestyle. After dinner we dropped the boys off at Rob's parents and went and saw Jon Schmidt play at the Sandy Amphitheater. It was such a nice night. We saw a beautiful sunset and the weather was perfect! There was a guy named Jon Troast that opened for Jon Schmidt and he was fantastic! We ended buying both of his albums. His music had a Jack Johnson feel to it. It was a very relaxing night. Thanks to Rob for planning a fun date. Then on Saturday we went to the Bees game with a bunch of our friends. Thanks to Tara and Jeff, we had a great time watching very little baseball and visiting with some of our bestest friends. Thanks for a great night!

Unfortunely our camera battery died after taking two pictures at the game, so I didn't get any pictures of our other friends that were there. Sorry guys!

Look who's rolling over!

Last week our little Beckett rolled over for the first time! I was so surprised. Wesley didn't roll over until he was 5 1/2 months old. But Beckett has always been a mover and a shaker. He won't hold still for more than two seconds. Ever since he started rolling over, he is all over his crib when he sleeps. We will place him one way at one end of the crib, and when we go in to get him he will be at the other end flipped around. We have also realized that he is a side sleeper. He sleeps so much better when he's propped on his side. I have a feeling our little mover and a shaker will be an early crawler as well. Only time will tell!

Fourth of July

We had a great Fourth of July weekend! We started the festivities on thursday the 3rd. Every year my family goes to South Salt Lake's Freedom Fest at my old high school Granite. They always put on such a great firework show. And this year I swear the finale was at least 15 minutes long. It kept going and going. Most of my family went out of town this year, so we invited our friends Rob and Andee and their little boy Josh. And my parents ended up joining us as well. We were so excited for Wesley to watch the fireworks. We thought he would love them. Last year he was so terrified he tried climbing over my shoulder the whole time. We thought this year would be different. We were wrong. He was still a little scared and didn't like the ones with loud booms. Half way through the show he went and sat on my Dad's lap and actually watched the rest of the show. The whole drive home he kept saying "I see fireworks!" It was cute. Beckett on the other hand was completely mesmerized. I wish I would have taken a picture of him. It was hilarious! On the fourth we went and saw Kung Fu Panda with my parents. It was a really cute movie. Wes really liked it and couldn't stop imitating Po the panda the rest of the day. Later that night we went to a BBQ over at Rob's parents. His Grandparents were in town from LA. This was their first time meeting Beckett. It was fun to sit and visit with them. After eating some delicious grub we lit some of our own fireworks. Of course Rob started out with the loudest one and it sent Wesley running and crying to the backyard. It took a little persuasion, but he was finally able to sit on my lap and enjoy some of the fireworks. What a great weekend!

Wesley's Party

For Wes' birthday he had a Finding Nemo birthday party. We were originally going to do the Incredibles, but I couldn't find party stuff anywhere! But Nemo turned out to be perfect since the kids played water games at the party. The night of Wesley's birthday, we had family and friends come over for a super fun party. The kids had a blast! We borrowed a water slide, bounce house, and slip-n-slide. And then we put up our little kiddie pool and ball pit to add to the fun. We had a delicious BBQ, played in the water, and ate some yummy cake. Wesley got a ton of cool presents. He is one spoiled kid! I must warn you, I posted a lot of pictures!
Again I apologize for all the pictures. We took close to 150 that night and it was hard to pick and choose.
