I pulled the plug...

I can't believe it really happened...I found the perfect opportunity to pull the plug on Beckett's binky. I was starting to get worried about when we would take it away from him. He was really attached to it and we hardly saw him without it in his mouth. We didn't pull the plug on Wesley until he was 17 months old. And we got really lucky with him and it went better than expected. Well, last week Beckett woke up from his nap and I didn't realize he didn't have his binky attached to him. I was in a hurry to get the boys fed and out the door to my nephew's baseball game. At the game, my sister Jenny noticed he was looking for his binky and we realized he didn't have it. I didn't think anything of it because it sometimes gets caught on the car seat.

Well, the next time I thought about his binky was the next morning. I realized he still didn't have it attached to him. Then I realized I never looked for it the night before. I called Rob and asked if he remembered if Beckett went to bed with it. He said he couldn't and so I went looking for it. I found it under his crib and was about to give it back to him, but then it hit me that this was the perfect opportunity to see if he could go without it. It has now been five days and we are still binky free! He has been a little more whiny and it takes him a few minutes to go to bed, but he has been a trooper! I was so relieved to have another "no more binky" incident go so smoothly. I am also relieved I don't have to buy anymore binkys. Our dog LOVES plastic and eats any binky that is left lying around. We have probably spent $200 on binkys between the two boys! Not to mention money we have spent on new bottle nipples. (We have a retarded dog!)

*Potty Training Update*
I just wanted to give an update on Wesley and potty training. Things are going AMAZINGLY well. It took a rough 2-3 weeks but he is doing so well. I am so proud of him! He is going both #1 and #2 in the potty and he hasn't had an accident in over a week! (knock on wood!) I would have to say that #2 was really hard to conquer. I think he was really nervous and scared to go on the potty, but once he finally did it, it hasn't been a problem since. This has been a very difficult thing for me as a parent, but I knew it was something that had to be done. I am so glad I didn't back down or give up and put him back in diapers. I knew he could do it if we worked at it. It has taken A LOT of patience, but it is paying off. I am so happy that we only have to buy diapers and wipes for ONE child! Although I haven't seen the extra cash in my wallet yet :)

Also, if any of you are interested, I've started updating my running blog again. I am planning on updating it every Sunday. So, if you want to hear me complain about my half marathon training check it out! And I can't post without including pictures, so here are a couple of my handsome boys!

Look at this sweet get up Wesley picked out to wear the other day after church! I about died! Dad was definitely supervising, not me! Also, look at his hands. This is Wesley's trademark. He always has his fingers crossed like that. I think it's so cute!

I am SO jealous that Beckett is off the binky. I think it might one of the worst things when I take it from Brody. Way to go on the potty training thing as well. It is a super hard thing to do!
